Can you feel the excitement around you growing? Can you feel the momentum our club is generating?  Are you beginning to understand the awesome power of Rotary and the strength that a number of significant individuals can have when acting as a team?

I really hope so, because your Rotary Club is moving in all the right directions. Over the last month or so, we have inducted four new members. While that certainly is exciting, we are not anywhere near done with recruiting new members for this year as Lance Chima, our awesome membership chair, just completed our club’s first membership meet and greet, which he personally sponsored. Close to 40 people attended, most of which were non-Rotarians. That is right, I said, non-Rotarians! At one of our parties people not currently affiliated with our organization outnumbered those that were, and that is priceless. Way to go Lance! Thanks for stepping up to the plate.

At the meeting we showed a 60 second video about eradicating Polio (did you hear the word eradication, how cool is that?) and a 6 minute video about Why Rotary Now. At the end of those 7 short minutes, we said enough about us (Rotary), tell us about you (prospective members) and how the power of Rotary can help you fulfill your dreams of giving back and making a difference. After all, that is truly the power of Rotary and what makes it so special. One person can come up with an incredibly lofty goal, get a few hundred (or 1.2 million) Rotarians behind them and their cause and dramatically change the world. Honestly, who doesn’t want that? I know I do. One of my life’s goals has always been to fundamentally change the world in some material way. With Rotary I am convinced I can do it, and actually our club does it each and every year.

Whether it’s helping over 1,000 families at our camp, providing $100,000 in financial aid, building a school in Vietnam, building a water well  in Africa or providing shelter to families that are displaced due to natural disasters, we affect lives every day!!!!

For just one second, please just take the time to think about what we do and what I just wrote. Imagine your life without water or a working bathroom. Imagine your children without a school. Imagine not having a home. Heck, my power goes out for fifteen minutes and I am all out of sorts. This is what we do people! Each and every day!  Tell the story, protect the legacy.

Please think about the people you know and who might be our next induction. Please follow up if you invited someone to the meet and greet. We have had two people prospects already submit membership applications as a result of that event and it has only been one week.

A very special thanks to Lance, his wonderful membership committee, and all those that invited guests. Another special thank you to Cheryl Warren who so patiently reminds me every week how late my newsletter article is. Sorry, Cheryl.

Until next time, all my best!
