In a ceremony in Akron’s Tangier Restaurant on Tuesday, June 28, Mark Krohn was installed as the new president of the 116 member Rotary Club of Akron. Krohn accepted the club gavel from outgoing president Janet Williams.   Krohn will lead the club for a one year term and has set aggressive goals for the club to achieve in Rotary’s five avenues of service: club, vocational, community, international and new generations.  Krohn said of the challenges that lay ahead, “The coming year will be an opportunity to build on the club’s long history of service while transforming the image of Rotary in the greater Akron region.

The club is now attracting young professionals as members who see us as possibly the best way to make a difference with their valuable time through volunteerism.  Our camp on the Portage Lakes is now serving hundreds more children with disabilities than just a few years ago and this year our club’s members and supporters will bring significant improvements to the facilities and buildings for the camping programs and children’s comfort.”

Krohn was recently recognized as the Summit County United Way’s 2011 Young Philanthropist of the Year has served as a board member for United Disability Services, Habitat for Humanity, and the Akron Rotary Camp. He’s a graduate of Leadership Akron (Class XIX), and a 2008 recipient of the Greater Akron Chamber's '30 For The Future' award. Mark is a partner in the law firm Brennan, Manna, Diamond, and he lives in Green with his wife Lori and their daughters Alex and Nicole.
