Good leaders make the Rotary Club of Akron successful, thriving and fun! The road to leadership in Akron Rotary starts by being engaged. Attending weekly meetings is a fantastic way to discover how to make a difference through Rotary. Is attending the weekly meeting challenging? There are alternatives! After-hours socials, volunteer opportunities, Chili Open, various committees, serving as a mentor or helping with international humanitarian projects. Committee members serve on the Membership, Chili Open, Communications & Public Image, Youth Exchange, Programming, Scholarships, Service Projects, Rotary International Foundation and more. Chairs oversee their respective committees or projects. They convene and run meetings, coordinate work and report their activities to the Board of Directors. Typically, new chairs are appointed in June. Directors guide Akron Rotary towards a sustainable future through sound, ethical and legal governance. They work to secure opportunities and resources to advance Akron Rotary Club’s mission. Soon, the Nominating Committee will meet to develop the slate of candidates for the 2018-2020 Board of Directors. Nominees come from the pool of engaged Rotarians. If you’re interested in discussing how you can serve Rotary, talk with a member of the Nominating Committee (before November 1st for Board of Directors): Jeff Sitz, Chair; Sandy Naragon, Bill Manby, Jr., Shon Christy or Lance Chima. |
