Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad
Harold Koltnow was born and raised in west Akron and graduated from Firestone High School and the University of Akron. After serving in the Army Reserve, he worked at Aultman Hospital and eventually became a surgical sales specialist and product manager for a major supplier of surgical equipment.
Upon retirement in 2016, Harold and his wife returned to North East Ohio. As a life long rail fan, he began volunteering for the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad as a trainman. Harold enjoys trains, history, and talking, so his role as a volunteer trainman is a perfect fit.
Along with the on-train duties, Harold serves on the CVSR Volunteer Assoication’s Continuing Education, History, and Presentation committees.
When Harold isn’t “work’in on the railroad”, he is a docent, researcher, and presenter for The Summit County Historical Society. For the past seven years, Harold has also served as a volunteer marshal at the Bridgestone/ Kaulig Golf tournament.
