A Rotary Club of Akron Call to Action

In his book, Relationships 101, John Maxwell says, "You first have to touch people's hearts before you ask them for a hand. You can't move people to action unless you first move them with emotion. The heart comes before the head."

This is easy for us!

Haven't we all been moved emotionally by the great cause we serve through our Camp! Haven't all our hearts been touched? After all, kids are at the core of what our club stands for. We are so fortunate to be a Rotary Club with such a strong cause as its focus. It's the reason many of us are members of this club! Special needs children have been our focus for many years. We are emotionally engaged. Now that our heart is in it, we're asking for a hand.your hand.

Right now we have a call to action to all members of the Rotary Club of Akron , and to all Rotarians in our district. The call is for financial support to meet the needs of children and their families through our Rotary Camp. It's the same call every year. Every year there is need. Every year we are asked to personally donate, and to ask for donations through our networks. Our District Governor has heard our call and has made her donation.

Have you been moved to action? Well..

· Will you attend our Chili Open on February 7.our major annual fundraising event to raise money for special needs children? Will you volunteer at the event? Many opportunities for us at www.akronrotary.org under the "Events Calendar".

· Will you help raise money for the Chili Open?

o All of us have at least 10 tickets to sell at $5 each. Please buy or sell all of yours. Better, do that and buy/sell more tickets! Donate a $500 Campership and/or get others to do the same. Seem like a lot? It's not quite $1.37/day for a year, tax deductible. Are our hearts in our camp for $1.37/day?

o 100% Rotary Club of Akron member donations is a goal. We can't expect the community to support what we aren't willing to support ourselves. We all need to donate.100%...whatever each of us can afford.

o Can't donate until after the Chili Open? "Late" donations are always welcome.

There are so many ways each of us can make this year's Chili Open the best fundraiser yet! How about lending a hand?
