Rotary Club of Akron Received the 2008-2009 Presidential Citation.

To qualify for the this, a Rotary Club must

1) initiate a local or international service project that reduces child mortality, 2) achieve membership goal, and 3) complete one activity from each of the five categories listed in the Presidential Citation Brochure.

Our Club Members did the following to achieve this award:

  • Expansion of Akron Rotary Camp for Children with Special Needs to include day care for Medina County and Northern Summit County USA & Autism resources for families with autistic children.  
  • Achieved the membership goals.
  • Expanded membership recruiting program, includes membership teams, mentoring, referral of moving members.
  • Rotary family involvement includes work days at Rotary Camp, family members volunteering at Chili Open.
  • Literacy Project in Costa Rican Rotary Club which provides books and teacher training in Rural Costa Rica.
  • GSE Team vocational day was hosted and involved 15 Rotarians.
  • Participated in Conference for Infant Mortality in Cleveland, Ohio.
