Whoosh ~ There It Went!
Wow! One month down. Many of you may recall the song "Whoomp! There It Is" from 1993 by the group Tag Team. Well, we worked like a tag team passing the Rotary baton in July and before you know it, here is month end! It has been fun running the meetings and we have had some interesting speakers. To borrow DG Stew's catchphrase this year, "I'm excited", still. The month of August will get us moving in some new directions. You have to stay tuned and come to the meetings to keep up!
If you have been away from lunch meetings in awhile, I just want to let you know our big lottery pot is over $900 and 14 cards left in the deck. Now is a great time to get back into the lunch time swing and join the fun to try and claim the big winnings. And I have a great idea of what you can do with the winnings.keep reading..
Today, we had Bonnie Wojno update the club regarding the Rotary Camp's Capital Campaign status. We needed to secure $700,000 from our Rotary Club to obtain our Foundation funds and we are within $75,000 of that goal. What a great representation of our commitment to support our Camp. I have to admit, I was one of those folks that let the pledge form sit on my desk too long, thinking each day "I'll get to it tomorrow". I finally got the form completed and am proud to say I am a supporter of the Camp's future. As Bonnie pointed out, any amount is appreciated and ready to be put to good use. I plead to each of you to do your part and pick up the form and make your mark on OUR Camp.
The next month will be fun to watch unfold. The Poker Run is now a month out and I'm sure we will be hearing much more about it in the next few weeks. This is another great event that continues our great tradition of raising Camp funds and having fun doing it. Please keep this event in mind as you run across contacts that would love to participate and/or donate to the event. Send them to our website where they can register and then cruise our page and learn more about Rotary.
"The time we take to serve those who need us can be the turning point, not only
in their lives but also in our own."
- Take Time to Serve, THE ROTARIAN, July 1980
I am ending this with a quote since this summarizes my feelings on this Rotary year. I am looking forward to serving and learning with all of you.
Yours in Rotary,
