(Mike Morones/MOAA)Lynda Farkas, president of the Ohio Western Reserve Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (OWRC-MOAA) was presented with the chapter eighth straight Level of Excellence award as being one of the very best chapters in MOAA. OWRC is just one of the 400 chapters of the MOAA. There were 162 councils and chapters who received a 5-star Level of Excellence Award based on the activities of 2020 when Lynda was the chapter First Vice President. Lynda answered questions and provided data that had to been adjusted to recognize a necessary shift away from in-person events due to the pandemic.
OWRC membership covers Summit, Stark, Portage, Medina and Wayne counties. Lynda Farkas is the surviving spouse of retired Colonel Richard Farkas, US Air Force.
“All 162 councils and chapters didn’t just maintain satisfactory performance, but persevered and excelled during the pandemic, earning five-star awards. These councils and chapters, their volunteer leaders, and their members found new and innovative ways to serve their communities and help veterans, excelled in grassroots advocacy by nurturing relationships and educating elected officials (often virtually) and grew our shared membership even without in-person meetings.” Said MOAA President Dana Atkins.
All active duty, retired, National Guard, Reserve, former commissioned officers, and warrant officers of the uniformed services—Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Public Health Service, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and their surviving spouses are eligible for membership.
