NICK GEORGE
 
We were sad to receive the news that Nick George has passed away.  He was a true advocate for The Rotary Camp for Children With Special Needs.
 
A special message from Camp Director, Mella Castner:
 
Nick's connection to camp began in the 1950s when his sister, who had contracted polio in 1942, attended as a camper. Inspired by her experience, Nick became a dedicated supporter through his position at Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs. He joined the Rotary Club of Akron on May 11, 1999 to further champion Rotary Camp.
 
As a longtime Camp Board member, he served in numerous Camp Board officer and committee positions, including Board President in 2002 and 2003.
 
Alongside his wife, Ruthie, and Jack and Vivian Harig, he co-chaired our 2010–2013 Capital Campaign, helping to raise $3.5 million to initiate the transformation of Rotary Camp.  Nick exemplified Service Above Self!
 

Nicholas T. George, 80, passed away July 21, 2025. He was born August 8, 1944 in Akron, Ohio to the late George and Frances George.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruthie; daughter Mimi (Rick) Kent; son Niko (Micaela O'Leary) George; grandchildren Sidney and Josie Kent and Ida George; niece Theresa (Mikk) Carr and their children Alexine (Caleb), Tia and Willow; sister-in-law Patti Weinstein and a host of other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his sister George Ann Wheeler.

A practicing attorney for over 55 years, recently retiring from Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, Nick approached his work with integrity, tenacity, and a deep love for the law. Nick was a devoted husband and a loving father, grandfather and uncle. His greatest joy came from time with his family.

Cantor Kathy Fromson will conduct a graveside service Thursday 11:00 am at Rose Hill Burial Park, 3653 West Market Street in Fairlawn.
