The presentation of Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) Recognition is The Rotary Foundations’ way of expressing its appreciation for a substantial contribution to its humanitarian and educational programs. It is named for our founder, Paul Harris, a Chicago Lawyer who began Rotary International with three business associates in 1905.

Jack and Bill both expressed appreciation to all who have donated to The Rotary Foundation throughout the years and explained the following levels listed in the program:

At our meeting on June 4th - Jack Harig surprised Steve Buie by recognizing him for his work with the North High Interact Club. Jack presented Steve with a theme tie from the 2002-2003 Rotary Year - the theme that year was SOW THE SEEDS OF LOVE.

Alita & Rick Rogers have extended an invitation to our Akron Club members (and their guests) for a Memorial Luncheon in Honor of Bruce (Bud) W. Rogers (August 14, 1929 - November 20, 2018) on June 16, 2019 at 11:30 am.
Bud was an outstanding individual, Past Akron Rotary Club President (1984-85), Community Leader, and Humanitarian.
The memorial will be Sunday June 16, 2019 at 11:30 am at Portage Country Club. There will be tributes to Bud including a eulogy presented by Mark Auburn.

Catch all the fun at Akron Rotary Camp, (4460 Rex Lake Drive, Akron, OH 44319) at 6:00pm. Dinner will be served ball-park style including a Nacho Bar, Chicago Style Hot-Dog, Hamburger, Baked Beans and more, catered by Robert J. Events. Vegetable Napoleon will offered for a vegetarian option. Please indicate if you would need a Vegetarian Meal.

Our Rotary Club will be participating this year in the United Way Day of Action on Friday, June 21nd. This is a hands-on service project, which can be very personally rewarding. CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP NOW!
In the past, our Club has been involved in beautifying adult day care homes for individuals with Developmental Disabilities and special needs. Additionally, we have been involved in helping to construct and beautify homes for families living in blighted areas near the University of Akron.
During the first week of June, we will receive our specific assignment from United Way. At that time, we will communicate this to all volunteers.
We are looking for 25 volunteers on Friday, June 21nd. We will be running split shifts from 9am-12pm and 12pm-3pm, so you can sign up for one of these shifts (or both) if you are able to do so. Thank you for your participation.
Summer Camp Dinners are a great opportunity for Rotarians to see Rotary Camp in action, meet the campers and counselors, and serve alongside other Rotarians.
Volunteers are needed to help set-up for dinner, serve, and help clean up afterwards. The Staff at Rotary will be extremely grateful if you can help with any of the following dates.

We are honored that Akron Rotarian John Reyes will be serving as our 2019-2020 District Governor. There will be a Banner Exchange Ceremony on July 20th beginning at 11:30 am.
In conjunction with the Banner Exchange, we are pleased to announce that our 2018-2019 Governor, Beverly Ghent-Skrzynski will host her Awards Ceremony. This is where Clubs and individuals are recognized for their achievements during her year as Governor.
