We were very pleased to have a presentation this week by Julie Johnson, President of Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Reserve. We applaud the organization for making such a tremendous difference in the lives of children within our communities.
Next week our guest speaker will be Nick Browning, Akron Region President of Huntington Bank who will talk about the Huntington Bank Foundation.  View Nick Browning's Biography
Please remember that our Club Annual Meeting is December 11th. and please complete and send in your ballot - we need a quorum in order to elect our incoming officers!  Click here to download a ballot.
There is still much need in the areas devastated by the recent hurricanes so I want to once again share this information with you from District Governor, Beverly Ghent-Skrzynski:

Dear Family of Rotary:
As I am awaiting updates from others as well as the Rotary Clubs in the affected areas, I reached out yesterday to our friends at the American Red Cross-Northeast Ohio Region to get information on the devastation Hurricane Michael has wrought as I am not seeing the type of continued network news coverage I would hope with the magnitude of what has occurred.  Rotarians Michael N. Parks, Chief Executive Officer and Jim McIntyre, Communications and Marketing Manager responded with the following information for me to share with each of you (below and attached).
We know a number of you have family and friends in these areas affected by both hurricanes and we are keeping all of them as well as those volunteers and relief workers with “boots on the ground” in our thoughts and prayers.
Beverly A. Ghent-Skrzynski
2018-2019 Rotary International District 6630 Governor
Thanks for your prayers for the people affected by Hurricane Michael.  I have attached the latest numbers for both hurricanes, Michael AND Florence – including more than 2,000 people sheltered last night in Florida, Georgia and Alabama, and still nearly 500 people in shelters in the Carolinas.  The number of fatalities reported in Michael’s wake has doubled every day since landfall, and we expect the number will continue to rise, as search and rescue efforts continue.
More than 3,000 Red Cross workers, including 15 from Northeast Ohio, have been deployed to help residents affected by both storms.  Click to view statistics/fast facts about these hurricanes.
Thanks again for your concern and kind words.  Feel free to share.  We need to let people know their donations are directly affecting people impacted by this storm.
Jim McIntyre
Communications and Marketing Manager
American Red Cross  Northeast Ohio Region

Our Akron Club will continue to keep members apprised of any funding avenues or projects through Rotary that may become available to help those in need.

See you Tuesday —
John Margida, Club President
