The purpose of Rotary Cares is to show our support for Akron Rotary members and their families when dealing with the loss of a loved one, the hardship of illness and also to celebrate the joy of a new baby, job, marriage or other events in their lives. Please be sure to email me with any news you would like placed here.
Thoughts and Prayers for fellow Rotarian John Daily:
Unfortunately, John has had to spend a couple days at Akron General Hospital. He has an infection and they are narrowing down where it is located. He is feeling good and is certainly ready to go home!! As long as he is there (which we hope is in the next day or so) - he welcomes calls and visitors - room 4107 (use the blue elevators). Several of us have teamed up to be with him the past few days and will continue to do so. If you have questions, you can contact me at 330.495.9814 or Mella at the Camp office 330.644.4512 or Jack Harig at 330.644.9862.
Thank you to those who have already paid your annual dues. Please help the Club by paying your dues before the end of June.
The Club must pay for Rotary International Dues and District Dues on your behalf July 1st - so your timely payment is important for our ongoing cash flow.

The presentation of Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) Recognition is The Rotary Foundations’ way of expressing its appreciation for a substantial contribution to its humanitarian and educational programs. It is named for our founder, Paul Harris, a Chicago Lawyer who began Rotary International with three business associates in 1905.
Rotary Foundation Club Chair, Bill Manby, Sr. presented Sandy Naragon with her new pin which now has 4 stones. We all appreciate Sandy's dedication and commitment to Rotary - she is an amazing individual and leader in our community. Sandy served as the Club President in the 2015-16 Rotary year. The first year someone donates $1,000 they receive their certificate and pin. Each time thereafter that they contribute $1,000, a stone is then added to their pin, hence Sandy is now considered a PHF +4.
Sotaro visited us last week and had been canoeing at the camp and eating ice cream! He will be going on the Youth Exchange West Coast trip soon.
It was a pleasure to have our Exchange Student, Ana, with us at our weekly meeting this week. She updated us on all she has been doing and is excited her parents will be visiting here soon. We will be hearing more about her adventures in the weeks ahead after her upcoming West Coast trip with other YE students.
Ana tells the members about her next adventure!

In the past, our Club has been involved in beautifying adult day care homes for individuals with Developmental Disabilities and special needs. Additionally, we have been involved in helping to construct and beautify homes for families living in blighted areas near the University of Akron.
During the first week of June, we will receive our specific assignment from United Way. At that time, we will communicate this to all volunteers.
We are looking for 25 volunteers on Friday, June 21nd. We will be running split shifts from 9am-12pm and 12pm-3pm, so you can sign up for one of these shifts (or both) if you are able to do so. Thank you for your participation.
Summer Camp Dinners are a great opportunity for Rotarians to see Rotary Camp in action, meet the campers and counselors, and serve alongside other Rotarians.
