We have been talking with the folks at Akron Youth Mentorship about opportunities to serve the K-3 Students by reading with them on Monday nights from 5-6pm at their facility at 940 Mckinley ave Akron, OH 44306. We would need to commit to having one Rotarian who can be there each Monday during the school year, per student. I envision setting up teams of 3 Rotarians per student. The team could be responsible for ensuring that one student doesn't read alone that week. Based on the number of Rotarians interested in serving in this capacity, we can commit to more students. The other opportunity to serve there is to provide a meal for 35-45 people (students/mentors) on a Monday evening. We would provide the food and serve the food. There is no budget for this. We would need to share in the cost. I thought this would be a good way to introduce our club to the facility and the program in the beginning. From there, we can commit to serving some of the students. Please let me know if you are interested in serving in this capacity as a mentor.
