As President of the Rotary Club of Akron from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025, Nathanael "Thane" Billow has brought a rare blend of heritage, heart, and hands-on leadership to our club. A fifth-generation Rotarian, Thane carried forward a legacy of service with humility and deep respect for Rotary's enduring values. His term was marked not only by steady stewardship but by a renewed energy that helped engage both longtime members and new participants alike. Under Thane's leadership, the club embraced both tradition and innovation. He encouraged fresh approaches—like the "Final Fridays" gatherings—while maintaining the strong pillars of community service, professional development, and fellowship that define Rotary. His meetings were inclusive, well-organized, and often infused with his thoughtful perspective and quiet humor. One of Thane’s most meaningful contributions was his ability to lead with empathy. He made it a point to truly listen—whether to committee members planning events or to community partners seeking support. This kind of servant leadership left a lasting impression, reminding us that great leaders don’t seek the spotlight, but rather use it to illuminate others. His final act as President—hosting the June 24, 2025 meeting—was a fitting close to a year that exemplified dedication and grace. Thane passed the torch with the same dignity and purpose with which he led throughout his term. He received his Past President's pin and plaque from PDG Cheryl Warren and President-Elect Miller provided him with a bottle of Town Branch Bourbon. Thane and Katy then joined each other in ringing the bell to end the meeting. As we move forward, we are grateful for his leadership and proud of the legacy he leaves. Thank you, President Thane, for a remarkable Rotary year.
