A Rotary Welcome for 2010

I'll keep this short and sweet, because if you're like me this has been a busy time. Not only have we been traveling to Connecticut for Christmas, but we are preparing for two weeks in the Canary Islands (near northwestern Africa). I leave the Club in good hands. Janet Williams, our Treasurer and President-elect, will run a couple of the meetings while I'm gone and we may also have an after hours meeting during my absence. Bridget Garvin-Ambrusco will decide. We skipped one in December, because of all the other activities.

This past month we had a great Barrett School meeting with lots of members-many of whom had never seen the facility and kids before. The plan is to do the same next year. I spoke of this at the lunch meeting, but I want to repeat to all how rewarding it is to see how special needs children respond to Santa Claus (Bill Manby Jr) and gifts given out by Rotarians. Bill Manby's committee did a great job.

We had a great time and my thanks to Ginny Wojno-Forney and her committee for organizing the event. Last, but not least, our thanks to all who participated in the Salvation Army bell ringing, organized by Graham Reinke.

I promised to keep this brief, but I want to remind the membership of two goals for 2010: the recruitment of quality members and the Chili Open on Feb 6. The recently inducted members have been active in the Club and that means that our recruiting has been successful in explaining the duties of membership as well as asking them to get involved. Please keep up the good work.

The Chili Open is Feb 6th and the committee is hard at work. Please help them. One way is to sell a few of those new $20 raffle tickets. The prizes are awesome and they just need to be shown to friends and coworkers.
