Club Sponsors Outbound Student

The Rotary Club of Akron is pleased to be sponsoring Marjorie Cantine as an outbound student in the 2008-09 International Rotary Youth Exchange program. Marjorie is a 2008 graduate of Hoban High School where she was involved in the Mock Trial team, Student Council, Academic Challenge, National Honor Society, and Junior State of America, a national student-run political debate organization. She will spend the next year in Poland as a Rotary exchange student before enrolling in Wellesley College in the fall of 2009. She and her mother, Dr. Lois Nora, Dean of NEOUCOM, were our guests at our August 5th Rotary meeting where Marjorie spoke to us about herself and expressed her appreciation to the Rotary Club of Akron for participating in the Rotary Youth Exchange program and for sponsoring her. President Dick Farkas presented her with some Akron Rotary Club banners to give to Rotary clubs she visits during her year in Poland, and Marjorie promised to return to our club next year and report on her experience.
