Setting Goals and Achieving Them
People and businesses that succeed are usually very goal oriented. They set goals, plan how to achieve them and then commit their time and energy to succeed.
If you attended our regular Tuesday Membership Meeting February 17, you heard our speaker Richard Jackson define "success" as achieving goals. Our Club is very goal oriented, and we have a lot of success to show for our efforts this year.
What an Outstanding Chili Open!
We had goals, we had plans and we had a lot of commitment, time and energy targeted on achieving success. Some $110,000 was raised February 7th. If you were there, you witnessed a great event. If you donated and encouraged others to donate, you contributed to phenomenal fundraising effort!

Our goal was to raise $800 to assist a Rotary Club in
Purchase and Implement Club Management and Communications Technology.

Achieve the Club's annual contribution target to The Rotary Foundation.
Plan:

Each member of the Club donate a minimum of $26.50 to The Rotary Foundation by March 17, 2009

Write on your check. "Annual Fund" or "Polio Plus". Your tax deductible donation is going to The Rotary Foundation, the International Foundation, to be used for the Polio Plus campaign and other charitable purposes worldwide, particularly the Children of Poverty Initiative.

Bring your check to a Rotary meeting, or mail it to the camp office.
Why $26.50? We honor Arch C. Klumpf, who was a member of our Rotary District, and who was the founder of The Rotary Foundation in 1917. The first gift to The Foundation was $26.50.
Why is this important for our Club?

The Rotary Club of Akron has been active since 1914. We have a long, distinguished history in our district, and we a have wonderful reputation to uphold, setting the example for others, continuing our history of Rotary Club leadership.

As we tell new members during their induction ceremony, "People will judge us by what we do."

Each year, district Rotary Clubs are asked to set goals in areas of their operation. By our meeting this goal, we will also meet our Club's annual contribution goal to The Rotary Foundation, honor the memory of a Rotarian from our district's history and help The Rotary Foundation achieve its outstanding contributions to the international community's quality of life.

This $26.50 initiative is one of our district governor's emphasis programs this year, and it's important to support her leadership.

You may recall we announced this program last fall. We fell well short of our goal. Only 34 of our 127 members at that time donated. Many donated beyond the $26.50 requested. Still, we fell short. I know I can count on all of you to reconsider, and respond. Even if you've already donated, please reconsider.
Setting and achieving goals is important to the success of our Club, and adds to the excitement of being a Rotarian. We know the value of every dollar we donate to the many causes Rotary International serves. $26.50.tax deductible.
