The Future of Rotary is in Your Hands

The future of the Akron Club is now in our hands because we are now a self administered club. We now have the opportunity to help run the Club as well as do the things we have planned for the upcoming Rotary year. Besides continuing the transition to a self run club, what other exciting and challenging things are planned?

• Continue the capital campaign for the much needed work on the Rotary Camp . This will be a major focus all year.

• Educate members, individually if needed, about Club runner, not forgetting those without internet access.

• Have fun! Raising money isn't always fun, so let's have more social events if the Club will support them.

• Continue the successful alternative meeting program.

• Grow membership with a quality ten net new members.

• Help support RI's goal of water, health, hunger, and literacy. I have committed to a goal of $30 per member for the International Foundation. Last year we exceeded our goal of $26.50 by a substantial margin. We will have programs about the Foundation during the year to help us focus.

• Support District meetings and programs. Our Club is privileged to have a past District Governor and a future one as active members. (Jack Harig and Stew Buchannan). We have put money in the budget for District meetings and events and hope to have a better showing than in the past.

These are just a few thoughts about the year ahead. I welcome your thoughts and suggestions and most of all your help to make July 2009 through July 2010 a great year.
